Rising Numbers

The numbers of individuals testing positive with COVID-19 are again on the rise around the country. Based on the most recent CDC information it is still believed that the virus is primarily spread person-to-person. This means you should avoid close contact with others (social distancing), wash your hands often and cover your nose and mouth with a mask when around others. Here is a link to the most up-to-date information from the CDC.

Testing and Confirmed Cases

To protect patient privacy, ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ has established a minimum threshold of five for reporting numbers of inpatients with laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ internal counts as of 3:30 p.m. on 10/28/20:

• 72 inpatients are being treated for COVID-19.
• 18 inpatients who are positive for COVID-19 are being treated in the ICU.
• Five or fewer who are positive for COVID-19 are on ventilators.
• 8 who are positive for COVID-19 are on a BiPAP.
• 3,750 (cumulative) unique positives for COVID-19 tests including results from the ED, triage tent and inpatient. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
• 25,348 (cumulative) unique negatives for COVID-19 at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites.
• 4,777 (cumulative) positive COVID-19 at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
• 39,450 (cumulative) negative tests at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites.
• 1,174 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have been discharged.
• 224 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥. This is not an indication of the cause of death, only that the individuals were positive for COVID-19 at the time of death.
• 116 Tuscaloosa County residents (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died (per the Alabama Department of Public Health).
