Primp Your Pumpkin

Creativity abounds in multiple ways. Each October, it shows up in the form of pumpkins at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥.

Once again, in the Primp Your Pumpkin contest, ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ departments have shown us how that big orange squash can be transformed into farm animals, the Cookie Monster and scenes inspired by COVID-19. Click here to see some of this year's entries.

Testing and Confirmed Cases

To protect patient privacy, ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ has established a minimum threshold of five for reporting numbers of inpatients with laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ internal counts as of 3:25 p.m. on 10/30/20:

  • 65 inpatients are being treated for COVID-19.
  • 15 inpatients who are positive for COVID-19 are being treated in the ICU.
  • Five or fewer who are positive for COVID-19 are on ventilators.
  • Five or fewer who are positive for COVID-19 are on a BiPAP.
  • 3,774 (cumulative) unique positives for COVID-19 tests including results from the ED, triage tent and inpatient. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
  • 25,627 (cumulative) unique negatives for COVID-19 at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites.
  • 4,813 (cumulative) positive COVID-19 at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
  • 39,991 (cumulative) negative tests at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥ sites.
  • 1,190 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have been discharged.
  • 227 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died at ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥. This is not an indication of the cause of death, only that the individuals were positive for COVID-19 at the time of death.
  • 116 Tuscaloosa County residents (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died (per the Alabama Department of Public Health).
